How to Make Contacts a Little Bit More Comfortable

Contacts aren’t necessarily always comfortable, which is why Lasik has gotten to be one of the sought after procedures that we offer. However, if you aren’t the right candidate for Lasik or if you aren’t sure about it, then contacts may be the next best thing. But if you are a new contact lens wearer, they may take a while to get adjusted to. Let’s take a closer look at a few ways that you can feel more comfortable.

Lubricate Them

If your eyes are dry or if your contact lenses are dry, they will usually fall right out or feel itchy and irritating. Make sure that you lubricate your lenses before you put them in and make sure that you keep your eyes lubricated while you’re wearing them as well. Try using some lubricating eye drops for the first couple of days to add some moisture to your eyes.

Use Clean Hands

If you get dirt on your contacts, it will make them uncomfortable. Make sure that you wash your hands with soap and warm water both before you put your contacts in and before you take them out; this is the number one way to ensure that you don’t get dirt or germs in your eyes.

Soak Your Lenses

Another way that you can cut back on the chances of getting dirt in your eyes is to make sure that you soak your contact lenses in a clean solution every night Although it can be tempting to reuse the same solution a few nights in a row, a clean solution is the magic trick. When you’re filling up your case with a fresh solution, make sure that you rinse it out beforehand with some warm water and then add the solution to the clean case.

Contact lenses aren’t for everyone, and they can take a while for you to get used to wearing them. Try using these tips before you put your lenses in. To learn a little bit more, contact our Everett office and call us at (425) 259-2020.
